Why We Run
We run in memory of 1st LT Justice R. Stewart, a fallen United States Marine Corps officer who had a giving heart, a selfless soul, an infectious laugh, and a heartwarming smile. 1st LT Stewart was a daughter, a sister, a niece, a cousin, a friend, and a Marine. She was artistic, confident, and ambitious, setting goals years in advance. 1st LT Stewart tragically lost her life while she was on a run. We run for her. Every time our foot hits the pavement, it is symbolic of a heartbeat, bringing life into the memories that 1st LT Stewart left behind to share with the world.

Our participants include people of all ages and diverse backgrounds. Our event attracts those who run and walk for sport or exercise, U.S. military personnel, veterans, and their families, educators, educational institutions, business owners, faith groups, social groups, professional organizations, community organizers, and those with genuine interest in supporting our charitable foundation in honor of 1st LT Justice R. Stewart.
About Our Charity
Established in October 2021 in Columbia, South Carolina to celebrate the life and legacy of First Lieutenant Justice R. Stewart, the Empowering Justice Charitable Foundation raises funds through various fundraising opportunities and donations. This Foundation supports organizations that promote pathways out of poverty through:
Empowering Youth
Supporting Authentic Opportunities for Leadership
Promoting Youth Advocacy
Promoting Military Alliances in the Community
Strengthening Communities through Youth Voice & Expression
As an extension of our primary mission, the Foundation also supports college ROTC programs as a way to honor the sacrifices service members have made and to aid in the efforts of the recruitment and retention of a diverse officer corps in the United States armed forces.

In-Kind Donation Sponsors provide the event with products, prizes, or services valued at $300 or greater that is usable at the event in exchange for sponsor support you will have a presence at the event.
